Where can you sell AI agents online?

You can sell an AI agent in five places: on your own website with a checkout, on a cloud marketplace such as AWS Marketplace or Google Cloud Marketplace, in the app store of a platform your buyers already use, through AI agent directories and review sites that bring buyers to you, and as a service to clients who want an agent built for them. Most makers I talk to use two of these: their own site to take the money, and directories to be found.

"Sell AI agents online" is one of the most common questions I hear from makers, and the answer depends on who buys. A solo founder selling to freelancers and an enterprise team selling to banks need different shops. This article walks through each channel, who buys there and what it takes to get in.

Your own website with a checkout

Selling from your own site gives you the most control over price, onboarding and the relationship with the customer. You need a pricing page, a checkout from a payment provider, and a clear way for buyers to start, such as a free trial or a free plan.

The trade-off is that you bring every buyer yourself. That is why your site works best combined with a channel that sends traffic, such as directories, search and a newsletter.

Choose it for: self-serve products sold to individuals, freelancers and small teams.

Cloud marketplaces for business buyers

Large companies often buy software through their cloud provider, because the spend lands on a bill and a budget they have already approved.

AWS Marketplace added a category for AI agents and tools in July 2025. Buyers search it in natural language and pay through their AWS bill.

Google Cloud Marketplace lists partner-built agents that customers buy with their Google Cloud account and use inside Gemini Enterprise. Listing an agent there uses an agent card, a JSON file based on the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol that describes what the agent can do.

Salesforce launched AgentExchange in March 2025 as a marketplace for Agentforce, where partners list actions, topics and templates that Salesforce customers can add to their agents.

Each one has its own technical and commercial requirements, and they take weeks to meet. Choose this channel when your buyers are companies with a cloud budget and a procurement team.

The app store of the tool your agent plugs into

If your agent works inside another product (a CRM, a helpdesk, a store builder, a chat tool), that product's app marketplace puts you in front of its users at the moment they want more. The listing usually needs a review by the platform and an integration built on its API.

Choose it when your agent only makes sense next to one platform, such as an agent that answers tickets inside a specific helpdesk.

AI agent directories and review sites

Directories collect agents in one place with categories, ratings and reviews, so buyers can compare. A good listing does three jobs for a maker. It brings people who are searching for your category, it gives you a backlink to your site, and its reviews give buyers (and AI assistants) a reason to trust you.

Pick directories that show real reviews and publish each listing on its own page with a clear description, since those are the pages search engines and AI assistants read and cite. Ask your first happy users to leave a review there, so the next buyer reads what someone like them experienced.

Choose this channel for every product. It is the cheapest way to reach buyers who are hearing about you for the first time.

Building agents for clients

Some buyers search for an "AI agent hiring platform" because they want someone to build an agent for them. If you can build, selling your time is a quick way to earn while you learn what businesses need. Freelance marketplaces, agency directories and your own network all work.

Many makers start here and turn the agent they built three times for clients into a product.

How to pick your first two channels

  1. Write down who pays: a person with a card, or a company with procurement.
  2. If a person pays, start with your own site and two or three directories.
  3. If a company pays, add the cloud marketplace your buyers already use.
  4. If your agent lives inside another tool, list it in that tool's app store.
  5. Track where each paying customer came from, and double down on the channel that brings them.

Questions people ask

Can I sell an AI agent I built with a no-code tool?

Yes, as long as the tool's terms allow commercial use and your customers can reach the agent through a link, an embed or an API. Read the licence and terms of the builder first, since some limit reselling the platform itself.

How do I price an AI agent I am selling?

Start from the cost of one finished task (model calls, hosting and support) and the value of that task to the buyer. Most makers choose a monthly plan with a usage limit, and a free plan or trial so people can try it.

Do directories help an AI agent sell?

Directories help people find and trust your agent, and the sale usually happens on your site. The listings with the most effect have a clear description, a real category and recent reviews.
